“Proof of How Hard I Fought”: Olivia Munn’s Bold Display of Mastectomy Scars in Skims Campaign Sparks Breast Cancer Awareness

In a powerful new campaign for Kim Kardashian’s Skims, actor Olivia Munn bares her mastectomy scars, sending a profound message of strength and resilience during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As the latest ambassador for Skims, Munn uses her platform not only to showcase the brand’s shapewear but to amplify the importance of breast cancer awareness and early screenings.

Captured by renowned artist Vanessa Beecroft, Munn is pictured wearing Skims’ new pieces, including a striking nipple illusion bra. Her participation, in partnership with the Susan G. Komen organization, aims to encourage women to calculate their breast cancer risk score and stay vigilant with screenings. “This cause is deeply personal to me,” Munn shared in a press release. “Skims’ commitment to empowerment and community aligns perfectly with the message of this campaign, which is all about confidence, comfort, and feeling your best self.”

Munn was initially hesitant to display her scars, a reminder of the double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery she underwent after her April 2024 breast cancer diagnosis. Her path to diagnosis was far from straightforward. Last year, her doctor used the Tyrer-Cuzick Risk Assessment Calculator, revealing that her lifetime risk of breast cancer was significantly higher than average. Further testing led to the discovery of bilateral breast cancer, prompting the surgeries and treatments she continues to undergo.

In an intimate podcast interview with the Susan G. Komen organization, Munn spoke candidly about why she chose to reveal her scars. “After my first shot, my makeup artist was touching up my scars, and I realized these scars are a part of my fight,” she shared. “I wanted to show other women with these same scars that there’s nothing to feel ashamed of.”

The campaign’s timing aligns with Skims’ commitment to social causes. Through October, the brand will donate a portion of bra sales to the Susan G. Komen foundation, supporting breast cancer research and awareness.
